Reservation Control after transfer from WMS-Enabled to Non-WMS Warehouse.

Hi All,

I currently have a client that does all their manufacturing, purchasing and most sales from a central WMS enabled warehouse (Main DC). They've recently opened a number of warehouses all over the country so that they can sell items from these locations (we'll call these W1 and W2).

The items are WMS enabled in the Main DC and assigned a batch number after production (Res Hierarchy = Site, Warehouse, Invent Status, Location, License Plate, Batch).

I've set up W1 and W2 as non-wms warehouses and the transfers work great, However I've run into the problem below when trying to register my picklist:

"Inventory dimension Batch number is a primary input/output dimension and must consequently be specified."

I'm wondering if there is any way to get around this, as at the moment they need to manually enter the batch number for each sales line?

Has anyone had any experience with this, happy to add in any more information if needed?

Thanks,

Simon

    Hi there,

In your reservation hierarchy. Is the batch below or above the location dimention?

It should probably be below, which means the warehouse worker is going to input that data...

    Hi Fredrik,

Yes Batch is below location. This works great on the WMS side as it gives the warehouse worker the option on the mobile device once at the location to choose the batch number he desires.

But once the inventory is transferred to the Non-WMS, I'd really like for them to not have to choose that batch number on the picking list registration. Although on the other hand I want to keep the batch number for tracking purposes.

    Thanks,

    Simon

When you generate the pick list you have the "posting pick list" parameter screen. On the "Other" tab tick the reservation field, it will then reserve the batch depending upon the tracking dimension configuration. The issue you will then have is them not picking the batch you have reserved :-)

Thanks you so much Steve! I spent the weekend trying to sort this one out and like everything in AX... it's so simple if you know where to look.

    Cheers,

    S
