Trigger Power Automate flows from real-time marketing journeys

The documentation from Microsoft says that it is possible to trigger a Power Automate Flow from a custom trigger in a Real-Time Journey.  I do not understand how to do this and the documentation under this link is basically showing you how to call a Custom Trigger from a Power Automate flow via an Unbound Action. Not the other way around which is what we want. For example a matched contact fills out a form, we will auto respond to them but will also like to call a Power Automate Flow which will find the contacts account and notify the primary sales rep. That is just an example but don't see how it is possible.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/real-time-marketing-custom-actions#trigger-power-automate-flows-from-real-time-marketing-journeys

The link to this document starts out immediately contradicting itself:

Custom triggers activated through a customer journey can also trigger Power Automate flows.

To use a custom trigger with a Power Automate flow:

How do we activate a Flow from a Journey?

Here is another link that further describes the ability to do this but I don't see how activating a trigger in the Journey will then run the flow.  Intuitively makes me think the flow trigger should be the unbound action… is that possible.  I just don't understand how it works.

So much more flexible if this is possible.

Appreciate the link but that is pretty much the opposite of what I want to do.

    • The article you posted is for "Trigger the trigger in Power Automate"
    • The article I posted title is for "Trigger Power Automate flows from real-time marketing journeys" but explains what your article is doing.

Thank you so much for the link and yes that is exactly what I was looking for!  I actually came up with the exact some solution and was going to post it.  The link you gave me confirms I was not alone in seeing this issue and the work around is the same.

     What I came up with

    1. Create a Trigger with the values you want to pass to the Cloud Flow
      1. Limited of text, number, bool, or date
      2. Limit of 9 parameters
    2. A trigger creates an unbound action which can be used as the trigger for a Cloud Flow
      1. Use “When an action is performed” as the flow trigger with these settings:

    3. Here you have access to the parameters passed in by the Real-Time Journey
      1. We do things like lookup the contact
      2. Notify a team of users
      3. Any other processes as needed
    4. Here is how it is used in the Journey
