Can you create an import from a zip file?

Hi,

I was asked to create an import data package, which is supposed to be a zip file that contains many excels inside to load.

I am not sure how to do that, and I can't find anything online.

When I add a file, I need to add an entity destination, but if it is a zip file that contains many entities destination, I have no clue how to do it, and how to arrange the loading order.

Can someone please clarify?

Thanks

Astrid

    Hi,

Why can't you add multiple entities and upload all the files against each data entity.

After that on import package you can setup sequence for import.

    Hi Astrid,

You can create a new Import project. When adding a file/entity, you can just upload the file. It will be recognized as a package and all the entities will be added automatically in the project.

    I am still very confused.

I added three excels for the testing and I try to add it as a package. but I got the following error when trying to add the zip file

    Could not find file 'C:\Users\ContainerAdministrator\AppData\Local\Temp\xxxxxxx\PackageHeader.xml'.

The package indeed must contain more than just data files. It needs complete information about the data project, such as the order of import and file mapping. You can easily create such a package by creating an export project (with the entities you want), exporting it and downloading the package. Then you can unzip it, modify files, zip it again and import.

It's also possible to generate a package by yourself, because all you need to do is adding two XML files, which isn't technically difficult. But you must somewhere take the information about the order of files and field mapping. I've done it before - we were creating packages based on database views with field names exactly matching entity fields (which made mapping trivial) and based on configuration files (defining the order of files, the company to import to etc.).

The error happens when the Zip package does not have the correct format.
