Hello,
I have a customer interested in upgrading to GP 18.3/18.4. They would like to use Office 365 x64, and to be able to email PDF's. In the past, the modern lifecycle system requirements stated "The Exchange server type only supports XPS and DOCX". Now the system requirements state Before you can send documents as DOCX, PDF, or XPS attachments, the Word template for the document must be enabled in the Template Configuration Manager window. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/s-e/gp/mdgp2018_system_requirements Can you use x64 Office 365 with GP 18.3/18.4, have the system preferences set to Exchange, and email PDF's?
Regards,
Kayla
Dear Kayla,
The specs haven't changed much since modern lifecycle was introduced and it is still true that Office 365 is only supported in 32-bits mode when you want to use the MAPI mode to send e-mails.. if using O365 64-bits, you have to set GP to use the EXCHANGE mode, which implies that there is no e-mail client (Outlook) installed and all e-mails are sent thru the Exchange server directly.
Below from the latest GP requirements:
Microsoft Office 32-bit & x64
Microsoft Office 2013 32bit & x64
Microsoft Office 2016 32bit & x64
NOTES:
1. If using Office x64, the server type in System Preferences
(Microsoft Dynamics GP>Tools>System>Setup>System
Preferences) must be set to Exchange.
2. Before you can send documents as DOCX, PDF, or XPS attachments,
the Word template for the document must be enabled
in the Template Configuration Manager window.
3. If using Office 32bit, the server type in System Preferences
can either be MAPI or Exchange
4. Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.3 and later releases only supports Exchange 2013 or later.
Sending documents in PDF format requires to use the Word Templates, as it's the only way GP can produce PDF files natively, unless you go the expensive route of purchasing a full Adobe Acrobat Writer license... not worth the money IMHO.
