Hello Expert,

If two same user is open same general journal number and they are doing some change in field then one user is getting error ("Cannot edit a record in Ledger Journal trans tax extension (LedgerJournalTransTaxExtensionIN). The record shown has been updated by another user. Press Revert or Shift+Control+F5 to see the updated values.") in D365FO.

Please tell me from where this error is coming in standard.

Hi Rahul,

This is a standard error thrown by the framework, since the same journal is modified by two users at the same time. The values on the form are no longer current as it has already been updated by one of the users.

If two users open the same form and modify the same record, this error will be shown. It's expected and normal. Otherwise there could be data loss. The system shows this error if the RecVersion field in the database has been changed when the user was working on the record. The changed RecVersion indicates that someone else changed the record, and therefore the record must be reloaded before it can be changed. Otherwise the changes from the other user would be overwritten.

Normally when working on Journals, only one user can work with the lines at the same time. The system prevents others from opening the journal lines.

Hi Rahul,

The standard general journal functionality is preventing users to open the same journal. So, if you remove the block manually, this error could be indeed one of the side-effects. What is the reason to have two users editing the same journal batch at the same time?

Hi Rahul.p

As default functionality if one user is already using the journal then another user cannot even open the same journal because System automatically lock that journal and shows the user name "In use by" column in General journals list page.

If another user go and unlock that journal then he will be able to use the same journal and that basically cause an issue when he does'nt save or validate his changes he did in that journal.
