Dear All,
I am very new to Ax ,And being partner of Microsoft we are having Microsoft Ax 2012 R3 Virtual Hard disc.
And I had installed Microsoft Ax R3 Virtual Hard disc in Hyper-v , Installation had gone smoothly .
But after login when I try to Open the MS Ax client . I am getting error as "The server is unavailable. check your configuration and network connection and try again".
Can any one please do let me know what's the issue and how can I solve it

You can start it manually from the Services window. You can also change the startup type from Automatic (delayed start) to Automatic. But then it might fail because all dependencies, such as the SQL server service, might not have started.
Some things you could try to make it faster:
- Add more RAM (24 GB)
- In SQL server settings, limit the memory allocation of SQL, otherwise it will use all available memory. 8 GB is a good setting if you have total amount of 16GB RAM.
- Use faster hard disks for your server
- How many CPU cores have you allocated? You should allocate 4 or more
- Are you running this on your laptop? You might be running out of resources.
- If running on your laptop: Once the virtual machine has started, you don't have to shut it down after use, instead you can freeze it. Then it will load faster when you need it next time.
Folks ,
I had allocated 16 GB , And it is taking 30 minutes to get the service "Microsoft Dynamics AX Object Server 6.3$01-MicrosoftDynamicsAX service" .
Is there any possibility to run the command to run start the service instantly .
so what is the allocation of resources for the VM ?
You might need to increase resources Specially RAM(at least up to 16GB) & Memory Weight and CPU Cores.
Thanks ,
Amith Prasanna
How long has it been in that mode? It can take 15+ minutes on the first startup, as well as after deploying new code.
How much CPU and RAM do you have in your server?
Folks ,
I see Microsoft Dynamics AX Object Server 6.3$01-MicrosoftDynamicsAX service in "Starting Mode" .
Any solution for this.
Hi ,
The AX AOS service won't start right after the installation , first see whether services state whether is under Started or Starting or Stopped .
Once it's started you will get screen with initialization check list.
update with your findings.
Hope this will help.

Have you provide sufficient resources to your Virtual machine? If resources are not sufficient then AOS service will fail to start.
Try to start the AOS service: go to Services form and start a service called Microsoft Dynamics AX Object Server.
If it doesn't start, you should find some kind of error message from the event log. Please share it with us.
