AX 2012 Add a Note to a Project Invoice Proposal

Is is possible in AX 2012 R2 to add a note to a project invoice proposal?  My client would like to add a note to each line item so her free form text would print along with each line item on the project invoice.   I see the Invoice Header Text on the Format Invoice Proposal screen when I am creating a project invoice proposal.  However, when I entered dummy text in to the field, nothing printed on my invoice.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Howard,

Have you tried adding the notes under Project management and accounting -> Setup -> Forms -> Form notes? Select form type Project invoice and add notes.

    Thanks,

    Baber.

Thanks to a colleague who told me how to do this.  This is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately I was not able to add SnagIt screen shots.

Following are instructions for adding notes to project invoice proposals.  This uses document handling functionality and is standard AX.   There are two sets of instructions provided; one for header notes and one for line item notes.

    1. Header notes

    1. Generate project invoice proposals as you normally would
    2. Select the desired project invoice proposal on which to add header notes.  Navigate to Project Management and Accounting -> Common -> Project Invoices -> Project Invoice Proposals.  Highlight the desired project invoice proposal, or click in the check box to the left of the desired project invoice proposal.
    3. Click the large Attachment button
    4. The Document Handling of Invoice Proposal form displays.  Click New.  Then select Note.
    5. A new record is added with “note” displaying in the Type column.  Add a description (this will not display on the invoice).  In the restriction column select External to assure that the note will print on invoice documents being sent to customers.
    6. In the white area below, enter the desired text to print on the project invoice proposal header.  In this example “This is the text that will print on the project invoice proposal header.” Is inserted.   When complete, click close.
    7. The list of project invoice proposals should now be displayed.  Select the document to which you just added notes.  Highlight the line and click the Print Preview button to display the invoice with the newly added notes.
    8. The invoice displays.  The header notes just added are found on the invoice header.

    2. Line item notes

    1. Generate project invoice proposals as you normally would
    2. Select the desired project invoice proposal on which to add line item notes.  Navigate to Project Management and Accounting -> Common -> Project Invoices -> Project Invoice Proposals.  Highlight the desired project invoice proposal, or click in the check box to the left of the desired project invoice proposal.
    3. Click the Edit button.
    4. In the Invoice Proposal Transactions section select the desired line item to which notes are to be added.  Then click on the attachment icon at the bottom of the form which looks like paper with a paper clip attached.
    5. Click New, then select Note.
    6. A new record is added with Note in the Type column.  Enter a description.  Note that this text will not print on the invoice.  Select External in the Restriction to assure that the desired notes will print on invoices going to customers.
    7. Enter desired text in the white space below the record just added.  Click close when done.  The document handling form closes.
    8. The Edit Invoice Proposal form is displayed again.  Click Print Preview.
    9. The project invoice proposal is displayed.  Note the line item note is displayed.
    10. Close the Print Preview form.  Then close the Edit Invoice form.

    Done.

Thanks Baber.  Yes I did try that, but it didn't give me what I wanted.
