Creating a custom field attached to the "Opportunity Sales Process"

Hello,

I am trying to create a custom field that is part of my opportunity sales process in the stage of qualify. I want there to be a button that says "Client Presentation" with a multi opt choice of "Scheduled", "Sent Material", and "Presentation Completed". I have tried multiple ways to add this custom field to the "qualify" button. I want it to be a mandatory step in qualifying opportunities before moving to the next step.

Ways I have attempted to make it happen.

1. I have gone in through customization and clicked on the form associated with "opportunity sales process" and added the custom field I wanted but I cannot add it here.

2. I have tried clicking on the "opportunity sales process" in business process flows and in power app adding a data task then selecting the custom field I created in this form, but it does not show up.

3. I tried using make.powerapp.com to manually create this field and add it to the qualify stage. Even after adding the field, I cannot add it to the section I want.

I need to be able to create custom checkpoints at each stage like this, and this is my first hurdle. Any help would be appreciated. I spent almost all day working on this one problem, unfortunately.

Thank you, Dynamics fam.

All the best,

Josh

    Hi Dribblej,

    Please follow these steps.

    1. New a option set field for Opportunity entity.

The reason why the entity of this field is Opportunity is that the entity of Qualify stage in the "opportunity sales process" is Opportunity.

    2. Go to Advanced Settings > Processes, change view to All Processes, edit opportunity sales process.

    3. In the BPF editor, add a data step in the Qualify stage, and select its Data field to the new field just created. Check Required.

    Finally Update this BPF.

    Lu Hao,

Thank you so much for the response. I have done what you have suggested and when I do step 3 in your process my custom field "client presentation" is not there to chose.

    Hi Dribblej,

Is the field you created a multiselect option set field?

If so, it really is not availbale in the BPF editor.

In my step 1, the new field is option set field.

    Hao,

Yes this is a multiselect option set field I made. Does it only work with option set fields?

    Hi Dribblej,

Unfortunately, multiselect option set field is not available in BPF, this is by design.

Currently, the multiselect option set field still has many limitations in D365.

    Please refer to

    cargas.com/.../

    blog.armaninollp.com/.../

Therefore, please do not use multiselect option set field in BPF.

If necessary, you can use multiple two option fields instead of one multiselect option set field, like "Identify Decision Maker".

    5518.Screen-Shot-2020_2D00_07_2D00_09-at-11.43.44-PM.pngHao,

I do not have the "entity" field in the Opportunity Sales Process BPF customization window like your picture shows in step 3. How do I get that feature?

This helped me so much Hao! You rock. Thank you so much. I figured it out. I wish I could tip you!

    Hi Dribblej,

There is no "entity" field in step 3, do you mean in step 1?

    pastedimage1594364838224v1.png

If so, just click stage title, then under Properties tab, you will see it.

    pastedimage1594365085116v2.png

If not, could you mark which field is in the screenshot?

    Hao,

You are correct. It was in stage 1. Ultimatley the problem for me was that I was trying to create a multi opt field in a BPF. Thank you again. Have a wonderful day.
