Fixed asset register - depreciations

Is it possible to combine depreciations for several assets calculated in the fixed asset register so that only the total amount is booked on the GL account? For instance, we have 36 main assets, each with 3 complementary assets in the register, which leads to 108 bookings on the depreciation account, per month.

    Hi

At the moment how depreciation is calculated in system . Are you doing it manually or it is calculated by system job?

It is calculated by system job. It creates so many posts that the GL is hard to overview.

In theory, according to the database structure it can be possible, as FA Ledger Entry table contains records that have a relation to G/L Entry No., but this can be many-to-one relation (few FA Entries can refer to one G/L Entry). However, when you post the depreciation journal and have multiple lines with depreciation entries, related to multiple fixed assets, standard NAV would generate many corresponding G/L Entries with one-to-one relation to FA Ledger Entry. Moreover, it would fill in the "Source No." field with the number of the fixed asset in the G/L Entry. So I do not see a way how to group them in G/L Ledger.

Why do you want to perform this? Grouping might lead to more difficult reconciliation if you would like to check the depreciation of certain asset, and it is less transparent for the auditors.
