Set Custom Step Input Properties

Posted on by 5

Hi everybody!

I made a custom activity in plugin (CRM365). It had 8 InArguments and 1 OutArgument. Then I created a new Process of Action type with parameters, registered the plugin and everything worked fine.

Then I added 2 InAgruments and registered 2nd version of plugin library. After that the window "Set Custom Step Input Properties" for the activity (2nd version) stopped showing input parameters. The list is empty. I've tried to unregister the assembly, made a new plugin project, made a new action, new class, deleted all assemblies and added again, nothing helps!

I've seen on this forum the same issue and in that thread the topic starter was told to create a simple C# assembly without any CRM templates. It helped him but it doesn't help me!

I'm totally desperated, Please help guys.

Thank you in advance!

    Hello Fransisco,

I don't use Online version, our company bought CRM365 On-premise.

Thank you, I wish you also to have a nice weekend!

    Regards,

    Aleksei.

    Hello Aleksei,

Please be aware that ILMerge and adding external libraries to your plugins and custom activities in Dynamics 365 Online is not supported.

Validate first if the code you are trying to execute cannot be moved to an Azure function or a console application, as those allow you to add external libraries without any issues.

Thank you and have a nice weekend.

RE: Set Custom Step Input Properties

    Hello Fransisco,

thanks a lot for your answer.

I've fixed the problem. The reason was using ILMerge for merging other libraries into the lib with custom activities. I don't know why but CRM doesn't see parameters in merged library. I added required classes into the original DLL and everything started working as expected.

I think I'll face the same problem when I need to use a big third-party library in my project (in this case I cannot just add classes to my code).

Unfortunately CRM allows to add only one lib for each plugin, so I cannot avoid merging.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Aleksei.

RE: Set Custom Step Input Properties

    Hello,

I have tried a similar scenario on my side, and I did not encounter the same problem.

Have you tried to recreate the process in Dynamics ?

If this does not work, then I would recommend you to open a support case, in order for Microsoft Support to help you investigate this problem.

    Hope it helps.
