Barcode with price embedded not recognized on POS

Hi all,

We have following barcode: 2090003014287 where:

1) 20 is prefix code

2) 90003 is the product code

3) 014287 is the price (3 decimals) -> 14,28 €

Item use KG as qty unit and price is set for Price Group related to store for 7,20€ (POS show me correct price)

Setup of barcode masks is the following:

3666.Capture2.PNG

And barcode setup is the following:

5228.Capture3.PNG

Barcode is correctly set on my product details...

1307.Capture4.PNG

...and on item barcode setup too:

3515.Capture5.PNG

(General tab details)

Capture6.PNG

Price is set:

Cattura2.PNG

And product is on assortment.

When I open the POS, I scan this barcode:

Cattura3.PNG

POS is reading but nothing happens (Search grid doesn't appears as should do when you type a non-existing code) and sales grid is empty.

If I scan directly product code barcode:

Cattura9.JPG

It works and add me 1 KG of item for 7,2 €

What is wrong in my case? Some days ago I followed a tutorial from here with another item and it was working perfectly!

Please notice that my initial test consisted to use item code 090003 instead of 90003 (so 2 was prefix character) and I thought that it wasn't working due to starting zero character...

If you need more information I will provide you as soon as possible!

Thank you very much!

Michele

As per the sample item you provided, the barcode should be configured follows.

    On the setup side,

    1. On the barcode mask setup screen, add one more type called the check digit. If a mask character is not available, add a mask character for check digit. Speak to your scale vendor and ask them to enable the check digit feature on the scale. So the mask will look like 20PPPPPRRRRRRC

    2. On the bar code window ( second screenshot on your post) you may need to increase the maximum length to 14. But I would recommend sticking to 13 by decreasing the number of characters used for product identification.

    3. On the item barcode setup screen(4th screenshot on your post), the barcode should be set as 20900030000000 if you are going with a 14 digit barcode.

Once all the above setups are completed, do a full sync to store. Try scanning 20900030142876 on the POS and the system should take the correct quantity. In this example, 6 is the check digit. Refer https://www.gs1.org/check-digit-calculator to know what is the correct check digit for any combination.

Note: It is always better to embed quantity instead of price while printing barcodes to avoid possible price mismatches between scale and POS.

    Hi Michele,

this is very basic and standard feature of Microsoft which works perfect.

Your barcode should contact Item ID next the prefix, below is the example.

Item ID in AX 10001 for Wall nuts and Item ID in weighing Scale is 10001.

now barcode in AX will be Created in the following pattern Prefix (20) Item ID (10001) Price (00182) Check Digit (Any random number gets generate) Check Digit number should be isolated from Scanner while scanning the Weighing Scale Printed label or else it will not show you the Item in AX POS.

Your barcode should look like 201000100000 in AX, Now push data to weighing scale for price and push data to AX POS, also create sales agreement for 1 KG in trade agreement.

Hope the above will help you.

    Hi Amith.

Unfortunately I can't know which scale I was using since customer send me only the labels.

At the end, due to other problems with Retail module, we decided to choose a custom solution like interface.

    Thank you

    Hi ,

I think first you better go through manual of the Scale , In the Scale manual you will able to find out exact Code and Digit allocation for each part of barcode , for Prefix, Price  , Item ID . You need to match Scale Barcode Pattern appropriately in side AX.

By the way what is the Brand and Model Number of the Scale ?

    Hope this Help!

RE: (2012 R3) Barcode with price embedded not recognized on POS

The item id needs to be part of the barcode itself. I created the barcode and embedded the first portion to the itemId. it finds the item but my the price is not brought in only a rounded up quantity.

    Some updates:

On events log, I found following error every time I scan an embedded price barcode:

Validation result = Sales line on transaction is missing unit of measure - LineId: 0, ProductId: 0, CatalogId: 0

Setup of product seems correct and so I don't know where is wrong...
