In AX7 azure VM, SQL 2016 Evaluation edition expired, I installed the Developer edition, AX still does not run.

Hi Guys,

In our AX7 demo Azure VM we deployed in June the SQL Server 2016 Evaluation expired.  we did some customization for demo to customer, so we hope to keep this environment.  We tried upgrading it to 2016 developer edition, but failed, it said that sql service cannot be started.  So we uninstalled the SQL Server 2016 Evaluation (backed up databases mdf files), installed SQL Server 2016 developer edition with same default instance name.  Then attached those database mdf and log files.   we can see AX databases and data in SSMS.

But still cannot open AX7 website.  What should we do?

Help please!  thank you in advance!

    no idea if this will help. But did you read the annotation about not setting the System date?

    unfortunately I didn't see that post.  Now I've installed the sql server.

    Per my web application experience, when we deploy an web application to another environment.  we may copy the mdf and log files to new server, attach them into the new sql server,  in the web config file only need to change sql server name.  why in azure it cannot work?

    Hey Alan,

    I think recommended way was to download VM or provision new one in Azure with same AX version and copy data base and code across instead of reinstalling SQL. Did you try to do this ?
