I want to export the header and lines data altogether from business central through edit in excel button ?
Is it possible to do this ?
I created a query to gather the data of both tables altogether but edit in excel only works on page.

    Hi,

In Business Central there are specific areas in which Microsoft Provide the Edit in excel feature. For example available on the Line Level of Sales Invoice

You need to create 2 separate sheet. Its not part of standard Business Central.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, this isn't possible with the standard. You can only have one table open at a time.
If you only want to export and not edit, Configuration Package can do it.
    For example,
Business Central short: Use Configuration Package to export data from multiple tables at same time

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

The Edit in Excel function in Business Central only works on data sources that are exposed as pages. That’s why you can’t export both header and lines together from a query. By design, BC separates them into different pages (e.g. Sales Header and Sales Line).

If you need header + lines in one export, you’ll need to:

    • Create a custom list page (or API) based on your query, then enable Edit in Excel on that page, or
    • Use Open in Excel or Power BI for reporting, which can combine data from multiple tables.

Out-of-the-box, Edit in Excel won’t handle header and line tables in a single view.
