Importing currency exchange rates

Hi everyone

I can't get my head around to do the following. From the ECB website I need the penultimate Wednesday's exchange rates against the Euro and the exchange rate needs to apply for the subsequent calendar month. So, to set the exchange rates for May 2016, I need to load the exchange rate from Wednesday, April 20. How do I set that up? Thank you for the help!

    Hi Abaw,

To my knowledge AX2009 does not ship with an automatic exchange rate import feature, which would require you to make an adjustment.

Yet, if you apply a specific exchange rate of a given day for a whole month, wouldn't it be easier, faster and cheaper entering the exchange rates manually? I do not know how many EUR-foreign currency exchange rate pairs you require in your system; if you only need a handful then I would go for a manual entry.

Would be great if you could give us know some additional Information on this process and requirement.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig

Apologies for any confusion, but my question was for AX 2012 R3, not AX 2009. I have not updated my signature yet as I'm in between versions due to an upgrade from 2009 to 2012. If you need more information, please let me know.

    Hi Abaw,

Using AX2012 you can schedule the download of the rates using the batch framework or manual start the process.

I don't think you would be able to select the date calculation correctly to have it run every month on a specific Wednesday.

Without customizations you could run the process manually and select a date range to import manually.

The history using the standard ECB provider is 90 days. So e.g. on the last date of each month you can select a date in the past.

However this will import the rate with an effective date in the past (e.g. 20th of a month). So when you enter transactions in the previous month it could use another exchange rate.

If you need to have a start date of May 1 with the rate of April 20, you need to enter the rates manually or create a customization for this.
