Importing and Exporting between Bill.com and Dynamics

My organization is the middle of implementing BILL and just received disappointing news.

The configuration of our SQL server is not compatible with BILL's sync.    Our "SQL server is currently configured with case sensitive sort/collation order (Latin1-General, binary sort). BILL’s sync is written based on the standard, case insensitive sort/collation order (SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, Dictionary Order, Case- Insensitive)."  Due to this incompatibility, "the DB Installer package is failing to install. Without this installation, we cannot configure the sync between BILL and Great Plains".  A suggested solution is to "use BILL’s import/export functionality to sync data between the two systems".

If anyone has faced this issue, I'd be grateful to hear about your experience with importing and exporting files between Bill and Dynamics.  Were able to automate the process?   Any other tips or tricks?

I appreciate the experience and generosity of the posters on this forum.

Thank you in advance!

We are going with the manual import and export option.   Thanks All!

Do you need to be Binary Sort (for other functionality and/or other databases on the same SQL Server instance)?  If not, and you are committed to Bill for your AP/Workflow/Payment functionality, you can check in with Microsoft Dynamics GP – Corporate Renaissance Group (crgroup.com) regarding their tool to convert the database to a different (DOCI) sort order.  You would still have to deal with re-installing SQL. (It's been many years since we needed this tool for a client, but I think they still provide it as a consulting service.)

You may also want to carefully review with the BILL technical team about their integration strategy and the technology/reliability of their chosen integration toolset.  If you have a GP partner, you may want to try to get them included in that conversation.

Good luck ... Report back on the direction you go with this.

Thank you Derek for the clarifying question!  I updated my post with additional information.

I'll leave it to the Community as to any experience with this Bill.com....

I'm curious, when you say the configuration of your SQL server is not compatible with Bill.com's synch and the installer won't install, what exactly is the issue, is it the SQL collation/sort order that the Dynamics GP databases use or something else?  The more information you can give on that, the better chance you may have with someone being able to help out with this situation.

    Thanks
