Can anyone explain the purpose of sequence number in location directive in ax 2012. Kindly give an example too.

The reason behind this question is...->>if directive codes are used in work templates to identify exact location directive to be triggered, then why does the system need the sequence number in location directive.

AX goes by the sequence number in an ascending order. In your example , AX will pick the sequence number 1

    Hi Galyna Fedorova,

So you meant to say that the configuration should be in such a manner ->>wherein the lower sequence number should have most specific rules and as the sequence number increases, rules should become more generic. So AX goes by the sequence number in an ascending order.

So does this mean that if sequence number 1 is most generic and sequence number 3 is most specific (obviously sequence number 2 is not as specific as sequence number 3), ->>does AX pick the sequence number 1.

                                                        or

Does AX pick sequence number 3 (as it is more specific)

In short, does system pick sequence number 1 (based on ascending order) or sequence number 3(does AX searches until it gets the most specific rule)???

    Hi pranav teja kasinadhuni,

You may have different location directives with the same Directive code.

Such location directives will have the different sequence numbers, where the location directive with the lower sequence number will have the most specific rules and will be considered first, and location directive with the higher sequence number will have the most generic rules and will be considered if the first location directive doesn't suit into the specified conditions.
