Nav 2016 Odata

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

So I have been trying to setup powerbi for a while and get stuck. there are 2 issues. issue 1, from our nav server, I can access the url, see the odata info, we are good.

When I try the url from a remote computer on the network, I get a login prompt, then a page can not be displayed. I cant see where the logs are for this to even start trouble shooting.

issue 2, powerbi. I have run the gateway, both personal and corp, but still get errors when when authenticating in the setup.

I have followed a few different how to guides and still get the same results.

So I have tried all the different gateways, none of them seem to make a difference. currently I am using the on premises data gateway. After the gateway is running and I am signed in, it says the connection is good.

when I go into powerbi, sign in and go to services and click on ms nav I put my odata url http://moc-nav1:7048/DynamicsNAV90/OData/Company('Pinnacle%20LIVE'), authentication mode, I have tried them all, I get a failed to update source credentials, instanceNotRegistered. I can provide a screen shot of the error if needed.

If I go to my setttings, then gateways, everything looks fine, though it has no dataset ?3302.Capture.PNG

yes, all computers involved are on the same domain. the web client is on a different server than the nav machine. But as I said when I go to the odata links on the nav server it works. just not on a different machine.

Is the remote computer on the same domain ? Usually log should be on the NAV Server so please check there . Regarding PowerBI Setup can you send us the errors you are getting.
