Search name field NAV 2015, hot link use

Hi

In earlier versions of NAV, that I have used, I could set a value for an account in the search name field and use that for quick in put.

I have a lot of accounts (00000-09999 / 80000-89999) and 3 stand out far more often that others and earlier I could call them 01, 02 and 03 but that no longer works. Every time I type in a field, it only brings up the list of accounts and search in which ever row I have set as default e.i. 01 brings up 01000-01999, and I would like it to be something like account 2200.

Is there a way to have a short hand for an account without having to rename it all together and take it out of its normal place in its line of other accounts?

Regards

First, you can rename the search field on account card to whatever you want (e.g., put 01 for account 2200). Then, you need to enable search field in the dropdown list of the field where you enter the account number, and set it as default filter column. By doing this, it will search of 01.

However, it will also search all other account in this search field that would have 01 somewhere. To avoid this, you need to do exact search, e.g. put 01 in " ' " symbols, like this: '01'

    Hope this helps

When I have the drop down menu that pops up after putting a 0 in the field, search field is not available. If I go in to advanced options for that menu I can not add it either.

Say 2200 is food and 801000 is money box 1.

When I make a line saying To account 02200 From 801000 then in the field for entering those numbers, that is where I would like the function. Currently there are several collums available but all of them exclude every other option. Non of them how ever is the search field. I would like the naming scheme to remain as is and then add in additional parameters for input, such as 01 for 2200.

I have thought about selection a field in the account settings indiviually, that is also available in the drop down menu, for a quick input but that leaves the number in the field the same as the quick input, which I want it to autoswitch with the real name. So that when I enter 01 it fills the field with 2200. That no longer seems to be posible with 2015.

    Hope this explains it better.

This is exactly what I suggest:

    • In the account card, there is a Search field available. Fill it with e.g. 01 value for your account 2200.
    • Make visible Search field in the drop-down menu of the field where you enter your number. To enable this, you need to open Object Designer and design C/L Account table (15), there select Field Groups from the View menu and add Search Name there:

    drop002.png

Compile the table - this will enable the field in the drop-down menu.

    • In the drop-down menu in NAV, set this Search field as a default search field

I hope this should give you the needed result

My NAV 2015 looks nothing like these screen dumps. Easiest way to explain the difference would be to say yours look like '97 menus and mine those new big icon ones that microsoft put in all programs past '07. Are the menus there but just way different look and placed, because I have looked all over and could not find anything like that.

I have attached the screen from a Development Environment. Do you have access to Object Designer? In NAV 2015 it is a program that needs to be run separately.

Please check this link for step by step instructions, please note you need to have access to the development environment and developer license to modify the objects.

No I do not. I am purely a user via. remote desktop for doing accounting.

Then, you have to post a request to your supporting team who does have access to development environment.
