AX2012 Workflow : Automatic task notification

Hi,

I have implemented a new workflow, and I have used an automatic Task. I have configured the automatic task to send a notification when it is executed. The code implemented in the automatic task works and the whole workflow works and complete successfully.

But the notification for the Automatic Task is not send! Have you got the same behavior? I tried to debug the Microsoft code and It seems there is no code implemented to send the notification : so standard bug.

Can you help please?

    Hi Mohamad.

    What form of notification are you expecting to receive?

    Check under your user options that you have the correct notification setting selected.

    Hi Jonathan,

    I'm expecting to have an AX notification (not an email).

    I receive other notifications : I set a notification for when the workflow complete and I got it! It is only notifications for Automatic Tasks that I don't receive.

    Hi

    We have experienced similar issues with "error (stopped)" where the users never received notifications. Who are you using as recipients? Are you using one of the roles or are you using set user ids?

    Hi,

    I only use a set of user Ids not roles. I don't have any error on the workflow. I receive all notifications except notification for Automatic Task.

    I reviewed the Microsoft Code : SysWorkflowQueue.executeAutomaticTask() and I seems there is no code that sends notifications!

    Have you ever tried to configure a notification on an Automatic Task and It works for you?

    Hi Mohamed.

    I was looking at some code yesterday for a client and remembered this post. It does seem like in AX2012 that users who you wish to notify should have access to the document's MenuItem. Can you check whether this is possibly the cause (Try assign temporary system admin rights)? We received "Unable to send notifications" in the AOS event log.

    This may not necessarily solve your issue, buts its worth a try

    Today we had the same issue. We found this post and found the coding in AX itself. Verified that indeed sending a notification is requiring access to the document menu item. E.g. for a vendor payment disbursement workflow you need to have access to the payment journal menu item.

    So Jonathan is very correct. I have marked his answer as the original poster did not complete this thread.

    Also note that sending notifications for manual decisions are not working out of the box. I found a hotfix for AX 2012 R3 on LCS. We backported the coding to AX 2012 R2 and also for manual decisions we are now able to send notifications.

    Mohamed have you solved the problem?

    I use AX2012 R2 CU6 and there is the same problem. Automated taks do not send notification even for administrators...
