Marketing Email Attachment with ics

Hello dear community,

I am currently looking for a way to attach attachments for marketing mails.
We have the following requirement: E-mails about an event are sent via the marketing app. ICS files should be attached to this e-mail so that the recipient can save the appointment in the calendar. Do you have any experiences with this? Otherwise you would have to do this with custom channels in a power automate, but that's not the preferred way.

Thank you very much!

Regards,

Ferdinand

    Hi Ferdinand,

I would not use attachments, it's an email marketing no-no in general.

Try this - host the ICS file either on your website or a webpage - so you'd have a direct link to it - I've tried uploading ICS files into the file library in dynamics here and it failed. Once you have a link just hyperlink the text in the email with the url.

Hope this works for you! Or maybe someone will suggest a better idea as I'm new to dynamics.

    Hello Adele,

first of all, thank you very much for your answer!

I've thought about the "Hosting on CMS" option before, but it's not as good as I wanted it to be. This is because some e-mail programs use the information from the ICS file to immediately create a (pop-up) notification that users can use to save the appointment directly to the calendar.

With the URL in the email, the user would need more clicks to make the calendar entry.

But I think this is the only way to send ICS Files in marketing App, because there is no possibility to add attachements in the Marketing Mail Designer...

    Thank you and regards

    I understand for sure!

I've come across this tool: “Add to Calendar” Links for Google Calendar, Outlook, ICS (labnol.org) - you'll just need to add the final HTML in the email.

Litmus have mentioned them in their article: How to create an HTML Add to Calendar link for emails - Litmus

    Hope this helps.
