We have 38 Licenses for GP 2018. But we face some timeout issue and doubting that this is related to SQL User Call.

Could anyone explain what is the exact SQL Server requirement for these 38 users. We already have license for SQL Server Stand Edition 2016 .

Thanks in Advance

SQL Server CALs have nothing to do with time out issues. You need to look at the type of users and what they do all day long. Are they running reports either in GP or SSRS. Running historical aged trial balance reports puts a heavy load on your server. You need to monitor your server and check the performance. Do these timeouts occur at certain times of the day? Are you maxing out your CPU or memory or disk access? Are you running software RAID? If you are get rid of it. There are plenty of SQL performance monitoring tools out there. Here are a few tips.

    Thanks for your reply.

Timeout is happening certain times. I am watching the issue and could not trace it. Let me go through the link you have provided.

I will get back to you.

    RE: SQL Server Licensing

When licensing the SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition software under the Server+CAL model, customers purchase a server license for each server, and a client access license (CAL) for each device (Device CAL) and/or user (User CAL) accessing SQL Server or any of its components.

I use indexes in SQL https://codingsight.com/clustered-and-non-clustered-index-7-top-points-explained/ This boosts the database a lot. Maintaining indexes is part of the maintenance of a database and is part of optimizing response time for queries hitting the database.
