Opening Balance not included in Elimination Rule/Journal

How can I get AX to include in the elimination journal the opening / beginning balance of an account?  Currently it is only including current period activity.  This does not work for balance sheet account in which the entire account balance needs to be eliminated, not just current period transactions.

    Hello Howard Walker,

How have you transferred the opening balance (Project date, type, cost and transaction status) and for which kind of project?

What Kind of project type are you using and what did you specify when you run the estimate?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Howard,

I thought that you refer to the opening balance journal that is available for projects and the estimate process that allows you eliminating those :-)

Do you refer to financial consolidation journals instead?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Yes, financial consolidations.  The elimination journal does not include opening balances, so I don't see how this will work for balance sheet accounts.

    Hello Howard,

I would say that this is a gap but not the only one when it comes to subsequent consolidations. Even if you would overcome this issue there are other related questions such as how to deal with previously recorded consolidation differences, latent taxes, previous currency conversion differences and so on that can in my opinion not completely handled in the system yet. I do not have a client who makes use of the consolidation functionality because it does not provide sufficient functionality at least for companies operating in central Europe. I do not know how it is in your country and what other companies do to overcome those issues. Probably let's wait for some other community members to provide some feedback. If you don't get any other feedback, probably consider using Management Reporter for your financial consolidation instead.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Howard, Currently I am running into the same problem as you were. Did you find any way of having Ax collect all relevant transactions for elimination?
