NAV2016 CU16 Error: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Connection is busy with results for another command

I have a NAV2016 Database with all updates installed (no prior issues on all previous Updates) however with Cu16 it is requiring a Database Conversion to complete the Cu 16 install.

I open the dev environment and it will prompt for the conversion. press yes to continue and I get the following error almost instantly:

Error: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Connection is busy with results for another command

I have ensured that no other connection is active, there is plenty of space on the servers and cant figure it out.

As mentioned I have all other previous updates installed and also have done previous updates database conversion.

I did notice that this time around the system first complained about object locks where there weren't any. this I had to resolve in sql so all clean there.

any ideas?

Is there any error in the event viewer ? check both on NAV Server and SQL Server.

I had not encountered such issue before for NAV 2016, however by default this error means there exist at least two queries that use the same database connection. I think this should be solved by some simple actions, such as reboot of the server or putting the database to single user mode and back. Try looking into event viewer, would it say something? If talking about SQL database, related to that error, try setting up TMSConnection.Options.MultipleActiveResultSets property to True, if it is yet not there. The Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS) enables support for the SQL technology which allows multiple threads in one connection. Which SQL version you are using, by the way?

There is no event log on either the SQL or NAV server.

also NAV is not in tenant mode.

pretty much a simple NAV config

We are using SQL2014.

This is also the first time an update has caused this. All previous ones converted well and nothing changed on the config.

interesting thing now is that I found a cronus database and that one converted but the client one did not this time around.

This indicates to me that there is something on the conversion process and data in the database causing this but no clue

Hendrik,

Please use Tools -> Synch Schema for All tables before applying the update. Not sure if that will resolve the above error but should resolve any schema issues.

Hi

Can you check whether multiple services pointed to this database, stop the services and try to convert the database.

I just downloaded CU17 and tried to convert with that and same error:
