Leave and Absence Set up - Why is the workflow tab mandatory?

Hello experts,

Within our organization we have already completed setting up the organization administration of Core HR (employees, positions, jobs, benefits, etc.). We are now looking into configuring the Leave and Absence module, however, when we tried to set up the Leave Types - there is a mandatory field named Workflow ID. In the past this tab wasn't set as mandatory. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Then when we choose one of the existing demo workflows, the only option it gives us when choosing a workflow is a download option. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, we couldn't locate any updated resources or demo on Microsoft docs on how to configure the leave and absence.

    Hi Maria,

    In the leave and absence module, you need to decide whether the leave request requires a workflow to approve, so you need to select a workflow in the leave type field. If not, you can set the workflow to automatically approve.

    If you want to request time off in this module, first set the leave type, then create a leave plan, select the leave type you just created, and finally assign an appropriate employee to the leave plan.

    Hi QuianQW,

    Thank you for your response. My question is where is the location that you built the workflows. We haven't created any yet and I understand that this is a mandatory requirement when setting up a leave type.

    Hi Maria,

    Please go : Personnel management -> Human resource workflows.

    If the workflow is not in the list, please select and create a new workflow in the pop-up box on the right.

    Hi QianQW,

    Unfortunately we have tried this and it doesn't allow us to create a new workflow, in fact we have used two browsers to find out if that was the issue and we have the following results. 

    a. Using IE when choosing a workflow it shows us this>

    then we select OPEN and this is what appears

    B. When using Chrome it downloads an application and then shows an error message as shown here

    Any ideas?

    Hi Maria,

    i also faced the same issue in the last week and thought it has something to do with the client approvals or security accesses but it is not the case.

    What Resolved it for me is - Now i am using my own company's remote desktop for this. please contact your IT department for the same.

    i hope this resolves the problem.

    You need to install the extension in your browsers. Please try the method in below blog.

    Hi QianQW,

    My apologies for not replying earlier. Your answer is partly correct, although we had to export the flows from the DAT environment and import them to our other tenants (Legal Entities) and then follow the instructions you gave.
