2-way integration with Dynamics 365

Hi,

We own and operate a cloud hosted enterprise platform for universities to help them recruit students. We have 17 universities on the platform so far and a number of them use Dynamics.

We're looking to build a two-way integration with Dynamics so that the data that we capture on individuals in our app is synced with Dynamics and vice versa when it's updated in CRM. Before we dive into the API, I'm hoping to speak to someone from MS as all of our clients will have different licensing setups and I imagine they may well be on different versions etc. It'd also be helpful to chat best practices.

I appreciate a community forum isn't the normal place to make a request like this but I've struggled to find any contact details for implementation etc.

Thanks in advance for any support

    Hi Jonny Harper,

First, discuss Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Mobile Application. Are you using Microsft CRM Mobile Application? Are all universities in the same tenant?

    Thanks

    Hi Abdul,

Thank you for coming back to me, really appreciate it. We're not currently using anything but our app isn't mobile-only, it's a web app. No, all of the universities will be separate instances - I imagine some will be cloud hosted and others will be on-prem.

    Thanks

For now, yes, they're all based in the UK although that may well change in the coming months - most likely then in Europe and North America

    Hi Jonny Harper,

Do we have an option to bring all 17 universities on one platform? Instead of integrating them all one by one.

If No then share details of what 17 universities are using separately.

If I answer your question then please mark it as verified.

Let me know if I can provide you with more details.

    Thanks

Sorry, I think I misunderstood your first question. All 17 universities are on the same platform, though each sits on its own instance for a variety of reasons and we can't change that. We can deploy changes to all sites simultaneously, despite them being separate. Each university also has its own instance of Dynamics, configured (I imagine) in a different way, some cloud-hosted and some on-premises. Some universities don't use Dynamics at all but something like Salesforce instead - appreciate that's a different conversation. At the minute, I've not drilled into more detail than that, I just want to know hypothetically how this could be approached. Thanks

    Hi Jonny Harper,

It seems a distributed database structure.

We need one global database with 17 sub-databases.

Let suppose. If university 1 needs university 2 data then it is accessible from a global database.

each sub-database is strongly synched with the global database.

If I answer your question then please mark it as verified.

Let me know if I can provide you with more details.

    Thanks
