Hi,

When posting the timesheet in project accounting module, how can it be transferred to payroll module so  the employee gets paid through payroll? Looking for documentation on linking both modules.

Thanks

Sam

    Hello Sam,

There is no transfer between payroll and the project module.

What the project module does is basically an allocation of your payroll expense.

    As an example:

    - Assume that your employee earns $100 that is posted on his department 123 as an expense

    - When this employee posts a timesheet the time recorded multiplied by the cost price is posted as a project expense on the project that might be linked to another financial dimension, such as a department, etc.

    - To avoid that you recorded the expense twice, a payroll allocation transactions is created with the timesheet that credits another P&L account and thereby distributes the employees salary expense to the project.

Does that make sense to you?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

From accounting perspective it makes sense. From operational perspective, we still need to process payroll, which I was expecting it to get the hours worked from the project timesheets.

    Thank you!

Is there any update on this? We use projects in D365 F&O and looking at new payroll options including timesheets.
