I have a user that needs to change checkbooks in Sales Batch Entry but cannot. I can't identify which security task/role this falls under.

Posted on by 10

The user in question is a sales user, and when I set up the profile, I copied the settings from said employee's supervisor since they do the same work.

This is the first time that I heard of someone in sales not being able to change checkbook IDs in Sales batch entry, and I've looked at both the Checkbooks cards as well as user security roles and tasks in an attempt to identify the problem, but I have not had any luck.

Does anyone know what I am looking for with regards to settings?

Thanks!

RE: I have a user that needs to change checkbooks in Sales Batch Entry but cannot. I can't identify which security task/role this falls under.

In the Sales Batch Entry window, is the user getting a permissions error when clicking on the lookup (magnifying glass) next to the Checkbook ID field?

If so, the lookup is bringing up the 'Checkbooks' window, which, by default, the 'DEFAULTUSER' security task gives users access to this lookup window.

This task is given to users, by default, via the following security roles:

    ACCOUNTING MANAGER*

    AP CLERK*

    AR CLERK*

    BOOKKEEPER*

    CERTIFIED ACCOUNTANT*

    CUSTOMER SERVICE REP*

    ESS EMPLOYEE MANAGER*

    ESS EMPLOYEE*

    ESS PTE EMPLOYEE*

    ESS PURCHASE REQUESTER*

    IT OPERATIONS MANAGER*

    LIMITED USER - FIN*

    LIMITED USER - INV*

    LIMITED USER - PAYRL*

    LIMITED USER - PURCH*

    LIMITED USER - SALES*

    OPERATIONS MANAGER*

    ORDER PROCESSOR*

    PA PURCHASE REQUESTER*

    PAYROLL CLERK*

    PURCHASING AGENT*

    PURCHASING MANAGER*

    SHIPPING AND RECEIVING*

    WAREHOUSE MANAGER*

To verify, the best way to capture security permission errors, if you're seeing one occur, is to use a dexsql.log as per this blog: community.dynamics.com/.../troubleshooting-security-permissions-error-messages-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp

    Thanks
