    Supported email systems

The Email Router can connect to one or more email servers running Microsoft Exchange Server or Exchange Online. The Email Router can also connect to POP3-compliant servers to provide incoming email routing. For outgoing email, you can use SMTP and EWS (Exchange Online only). For more information about the email server versions and protocols that Microsoft Dynamics CRM supports, see Microsoft Dynamics CRM Email Router software requirements in this guide.

Exchange Server is an enterprise messaging system with the versatility to support various organizations. As with Active Directory and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Exchange Server requires planning before it is deployed. Many documents are available from Microsoft that explain how to plan, deploy, and operate Exchange Server.

    Hi Deepesh,

    Thanks for your prompt response

    I also found this URL:

The Email Router should be able to connect up to Lotus Dominio Mail Server just like it does with other POP3 or non-Exchange email servers. Lotus Notes as a client isn't supported, and at the same time doesn't necessarily matter because all of the email exchange goes through CRM. So, as long as the users records in CRM are set up then the email flow will work as you expect it to within CRM. Microsoft provides an add-in for Outlook so that you can track emails from Outlook directly into CRM. Lotus Notes doesn't have that (as far as I'm aware) and so that being said, emails sent from your Lotus Notes client won't get picked up by CRM unless you set up the CRM user account to read directly off of the mailbox, in which case, EVERYTHING (emails, contacts, activities, etc) will get sucked into CRM. If you are okay with that, then it should work. If that's not what you want, then Lotus Notes integration with MSCRM is probably going to be disappointing to you.

I cant tell my client to change there mailing system to MS Exchange/outlook for CRM implementation

Do you have any more suggestions or steps, which says email router can work !

Again Thanks for your help !

FYI, LinkPoint makes a Lotus Notes to Dynamics CRM Connector that seems pretty solid.  One of my clients is evaluating it right now: www.linkpoint360.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-crm

Also, on the Domino server, the admins will need to make sure the POP3 modules are enabled.  Not all Domino admins have POP3 set up, so that will have to be validated to use the Email Router.
