Product Family & Price Lists - Determine sales price by product family

HI All,

I'm fairly new to working with price lists and have a question regarding pricelist and product family.

We want the ability to sell a product to a price, which is specified on the parent product family.

So, as an example - we have two customers: Customer A, Customer B.

Both customers buy the product "Product A", which is part of "Family A" - but we want the ability to sell the product with two different prices (% of price).

Now, normally we would have to setup a Price List Item on Product A - but in the actual case we have 1000 different products in "Family A". We want to give the same agreed discount on all products in same family. Is this possible?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi EmilFSM,

1.Product families are used to categorize products and discounts cannot be applied to them.

You can use percentage discounts when adding price list items or when creating an order.

The difference is that the former can be used for different price lists for the same product, while the latter can only be used for all products in an entire order.

In addition, Field Service does not currently support discount list price list items. You can configure discounts directly on work order products and services:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/create-price-list

2.Discounts for customers are also available only with manual discounts (not percentages):

    https://community.dynamics.com/365/sales/f/dynamics-365-for-sales-forum/391712/discounts-by-customer-in-dynamics-365-for-sales

1000 products is not a problem, it is a process that can be done in bulk:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/sales/add-products-qoi-enhanced

3.Finally, I think the features that best meet your requirements exist in Business Central:

    Hi Haig Liu,

    Thanks for your detailed response.

As I understand, and what also makes sense is that this is more a BC feature rather than FSM.

I will figure out a way to solve this for my customer request.

    Thanks!

It is definitely possible to sell a product at a specified price that is set at the parent product family level. One way to achieve this would be to set up a Price List that is specific to the product family (Family A in your example), and then create Price List Items for each product within that family.

To simplify the process, you can use the "Apply Discount to Product Family" feature in Dynamics 365, which allows you to apply the same discount percentage to all products within a product family. This way, you won't need to create individual Price List Items for each product, which would be very time-consuming and inefficient.

To set this up, you can navigate to the "Price Lists" section in Dynamics 365, and create a new Price List that is specific to Family A. Then, select the "Apply Discount to Product Family" option and specify the discount percentage that you want to offer. This will apply the same discount to all products within Family A.

Keep in mind that this method will only work if you want to offer the same discount percentage to all products within a product family. If you need to offer different discounts for different products within the same family, you will need to create individual Price List Items for each product.
