Showing the Purchase Order Number for Line Items of a Drop Shipped Sales Document

Hi:

I'm looking into how the linkage between a drop ship sales order and purchase order occurs.

Specifically, we're trying to create a Power BI report for tracking purposes and would have expected that the sales order lines would have a field available to show the purchase order number to which it is tied and possibly vice versa on the purchase order.

Is it possible to verify a purchase order that has been created for a sales order and has the drop ship box checked other than searching every open purchase order for that item and looking at the customer address?

Thank you!

John

    Hi.

The link between a Sales Order and the Purchase order for a drop shipment is stored in the lines.

If you ship and invoice the order, you can build your PowerBI dashboard on the posted sales shipment lines.

The posted shipment line table holds two fields you need for your dashboard: Drop Shipment and Purchase order number.

Sure its troublesome to look at it one by one, but its not a problem for a reporting tool like Power Bi if the customer is looking for an out of the box solution

Customization works as well, maybe its even better in this case, but not everyone has the capability/resources or wants to customize the system.

Its always good to have multiple options

Hi, the Archive feature recommended by andy4029 is of course also possible, but it is a bit troublesome.

I recommend doing a little customization, adding these fields to Posted Documents, and then passing the value from the order when posting.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

If you're using Power Bi - you can archive the sales/purchase orders and then you will have the link in the archived order.

For example, for each posted purchase invoice you will need the link to the -> archived purchase order -> link to the archived sales order.

But, I think that this information essentially "disappears" after posting of the documents has taken place.

Is there any link, at that point?

    Hi, hope the following helps.

    Sales order:

Get Sales Order in Purcahse Order.

    pastedimage1659397736750v3.png

Then you can find Sales Order No. and Sales Order Line No. in Purchase Lines.

And you can also find Purchase Order No. and Purchase Order line No. in Sales lines.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
