Hi all, I'm looking at moving a spreadsheet-and-paper invoice system into D365 and have a requirement for entering opportunity products that I'm trying to figure out.
For example, we've got a resource that is billed by the hour, a Supervisor who can be on site for a period of time. So this Supervisor is listed as a resource whose unit is Hours, with a price list value of say $50/hour. So on quotes/orders/invoices, a Supervisor line item with a quantity of 8 hours would show $400. So far, so good.
But there are times when we'd send multiple resources of the same type. In the existing spreadsheet system there is an additional column for a quantity for each line item on the quote. So if the job required 4 supervisors on site, in the spreadsheet you just put 4 in the extra quantity column and you'd end up with a single line item of 4 Supervisors x 8 hours x $50 per hour = $1600.
Out of the box in D365 Sales, each resource looks like it has to be entered as a separate line item, which could get messy if you were quoting 10 of a particular type. I was thinking about using the Unit Group function for such situations, but that also seems messy. Is there a way in D365 to take that kind of calculation into account?
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
Hi Rob,
In the Quote Line, there is a two option field "Pricing", select it to "Override Price", then "Price Per Unit" is unlocked, you can change it to the value of Supervisors number x original Price Per Unit.
For example, the original Price Per Unit value is 100. If there are 4 Supervisors, then we will change it to 400.
Of course, I recommend that you create a new field for the Quote Line to indicate the number of Supervisors and add it to the Quote Line form.
