Hello,
MS Dynamics NAV ist new to me and I Need to create a Report for a customer. I have read the book "Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 Professional Reporting", but I still can't handle the report. I know just reading a book won't enable me to master "Professional Reporting", but the report I need is quite simple.
I need a report with the following Content.
This is what I did so far:
IncludeCaption is set to yes.
When I run this, I just get an empty report with nothing in it. I don't understand, how to figure out, in which Data Source the values are I need.
I tried to copy from existing reports, but all I get is a bunch of error messages. The book and the Internet could not help me so far. Or I'm just too stupid, I don't know. Can anybody tell me, what I am doing wrong and how to do better?
Thanks and Kind regards,
Blubbfisch

Thank you for your answer. I did not expect the report to be "advanced". The report "Customer/Item Sales Report" is the one I tried top copy from. I will try again and use this report as basis for my report and not just copy from it. How can I figure out which table I need for certain data? And how can I figure out what a certain "Data Source", for example "All_amounts_are_in_LCYCaption" (from Customer/Item Sales Report), is being used for?
The report you had described is not the most simple one, as it should read the data from several tables.
If this is your first report, I'd recommend you to start building it in more simple parts. First of all, before starting a new report check carefully if there is already something similar in standard which is the same or close to what you want. Then, copy existing report and try to modify it - it usually takes much less time then building up from scratch.
E.g., in your case have a look at "Customer/Item Sales Report":
