Hello!
As I understand Booking Journal and Time Entry are tended to calculate cost of the technician's time, but what is the different between this two entities?
What is exact purpose of Booking Journal and what is exact purpose of Time Entry?
Booking journal is auto-created based on booking status updates. After close-posting the work order it will create actuals e.g. for travel time and work time. It reflects the cost side of the service visits.
Time entries can be manually created or pre-populated from booking status updates. In contrast to journal entries they can be modified and are used for service reports to for example show the customer the recorded hours. They may be different from the above, the journal might say "2 hours work", while time entry towards the customer is only 1 hour (plus 1 hour non-billable research time). Booking journals require the tech to precisely update booking statuses, for time entries this is not a big issue.
While both get triggered by booking status updates, there is no link between them. Booking journals generate different entries for work vs. overtime, time entries would only reflect generic work.
We think that "Booking Journal" is an entity to be set in advance
