Find Cost of Work in Progress Item of COGS Finished Goods

Is there any concern or finding process data or report in 365 so I can get the cost of Work in Progress item after we get COGS Finished Goods?

*Work in progress item = WIP
*Finished Goods = FG

example:

BOM:

1. WIP A = material + labor + etc
2. WIP B = WIP A + material
3. FG Y = WIP B + material
4. FG Z = WIP B + material

One Production WIP B can be use for FG Y & FG Z

In Production for estimation FG Y or FG Z we can now the cost of WIP B, but how we can know the cost of WIP A for one FG (FG Y) ?

Hi edwind90,

Did you check "Cost estimates and costings report" and Work in Progress report from production module?

I mostly prefer cost estimates report that basically shows complete information about production order and finished Good current status and along with complete cost break up like Labor and Machine cost, indirect cost, Material cost.

Good morning edwind90,

I think that you mix terms.

If you produce your items as illustrated above then all of the postings are made on balance sheet accounts and there is no effect on your income statement and your COGS.

You will see the COGS at the time you sell the item that you produce.

Until the time you sell it, there usually no COGS.

What you can do though is analyzing the amounts posted for your production order.

This can be done by checking the 'view calculation details' form that you can find in the manage cost tab of your production order.

There are also a number of standard reports that can help you analyzing the amounts posted during production.

Please check the available standard reports that are available in the inquiries and report section in the production module.

yes I did..it will be okay if i want check the WIP B from production order FG Y or the WIP B used only for one FG (example FG Y) so we will know the cost of WIP A from production order WIP B for FG Y.

But in my case WIP B used by FG Y & FG Z. I want to know only the Cost of WIP A for one FG (FG Y). Actually the cost of WIP A from production order WIP B is SUM of the cost for FG Y & FG Z right?

Thansk Ludwig,

We can know the COGS of FG Y after sell it. Can we know the cost of the WIP A to become that COGS value?

My concern is I want to know the cost of WIP A to become the FG Y COGS value after sell it with the BOM & production procedure like above
