Hello!
We are trying to post all our project revenues each month by using the 'Completion Method: Automatic', within the 'Create Estimate' function. However, we want to exclude bad debt provisions when calculating the percentage of completion, as the provision is not a true project cost.
Does anyone know if there a way for AX to exclude certain costs in the automatic estimate calculation?
Thank you
Chris

Hi
I tried as suggested by Andre, it doesn't seem to work. BTW the project is a fixed price (Balance) and the estimate is through completed % method. Not sure, if I am missing something there?

Hi Brian
If I create a new cost template, how do I use this on existing projects which are already aligned to a different cost template?
Thank you
Chris
Create a cost template with a line that is excluded from the completion calculation and then move the project category used to record bad debt into this line. When you run the calculation, it will be excluded.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all your replies, I think I'm close with a solution however firstly, if I create a new cost template how do I use this when creating a new revenue estimate?
And finally, at the moment all the estimate projects already have a cost template assigned called 'STD' and I can't seem to change it. Presumably I need to change this to the new cost template?
Can anyone help please?
Thank you
Chris
On the cost template assigned to the estimate project, then it's possible to configure which categories that shall be incorporated - and which shall not - in the monthly POC - calculation. In the cost template create line/-s for categories that shall not be part of the calculation.
Hi Chris,
The field 'Capitalize cost' on the Line property is used to determine if transactions are included or excluded from the estimation. Create a line property where this option is turned off to be used for 'bad debt provisions'.
Hi Islam
Thanks for your response, that's a great suggestion. Our AX guru also came up with the idea of uploading the bad debt as a 'forecast on account' transaction then including this as a cost via an exception. This way the revenue estimate isn't altered but the cost is shown on our internal project statement report.
I'm surprised there isn't a formal procedure as I'm sure many companies post bad debt provisions.
Thanks again
Chris
Hi Birdie,
Unfortunately this cant be done as AX generates revenue in estimates as per all posted costs, the only work around that you may do is by creating a new sub project under the name of provisions and try not to take this sub project in the revenue estimation.
