does wildcard searching a lookup field search the view or the base table

I have created a dynamic view in jscript for a lookkup control looking for product.  This is using formContext.getControl().addCustomView().  The function is to limit the set of products available to the user.

My QA is telling me wild card searching goes beyond the limited list.  I don't know of any configuration options for wild card searching -- if fact I don't even see an off/on switch.

Can anyone direct me to documentation for configuring wild card search?  Does it simply not work as I expect?

TIA

    Hello,

Find looks for the data using the "Quick Find View" filtering. If you want to filter data returned you should use addCustomFilter instead of addCustomView - docs.microsoft.com/.../addcustomfilter

I would love to.  Unfortunately my customization requires a join not a condition and only filter conditions can be affected by addCustomFilter().

If you will perform operation in 2 steps how it's described here - you're good to go - missdynamicscrm.blogspot.com/.../crm-2013-using-addcustomfilter-to-get-filtered-lookup-field-based-on-linked-entity.html

    Good luck.

Yes, one could simply build the view results in memory -- in tag text actually -- when the condition is an attribute.  And it better be a sparce one at that.  However, I'm talking about products as members of EITHER of two (fortunately not N) price lists (productpricelevel.)  This is a many-to-many which could result in a BRUTE FORCE filter of thousands of guids:

                    ""
                     ""
                      ""
                  pxLst
                  MQ
                      ""
                     ""
                    ""

    OR

building thousands of VALUE tags from pxLst and dozens of them from MQ.

Would that work?  And I would have to deal with the 5000 item page limit.

I'm told this fixed it: docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-relevance-search-organization

It is what it is. I believe that I provided you all options available and now it's up to you to decide which way to go.

    Good luck.
