Planning item use in Master Planning

Posted on by 2
I'm having trouble with a setup where a planning item has a co-product. When I create a sales order of the co-product, the system generates demand for the co-product and a planned order of co-product in MRP. Is there a way to configure the system to generate a planned order for the planning item instead? and was wondering what is the use of the field planning formula on the release product form ?

The purpose of the Planning formula field is to indicate to the planning module what to do when there is demand for the co-product item. The planning module will create planned orders for the item you define in the Planning formula field.

The idea that MRP can create planned production orders for the Co-product item sounds mad to me.... I don't think AX should be able to do this. Planned production orders can only be created for items with Production type = BOM, Formula or Planning item.
