You need to first check if there is a folder location exists and also if the respective folder exists in SharePoint or not. Based on the results, use SharePoint API's to either create the forlder first and upload the document.

What if I need upload document in batch to sharepoint for existing contacts from another tool, and those contacts do not have folder created yet, what shall I do then?

As per your query : When SharePoint is enabled, for record types that support document management, a default document location (folder) is automatically created on SharePoint the first time you go to the Documents tab. The name of the document location is in the following format: <record_name>_<record_id>.
By default, the location is set to Documents on Default Site 1.
