Managing Approval Paths in Multi-Position Worker Assignments issue in Dynamics 365 F&O

Scenario:

Worker 123 has two positions assigned to them:
- Position A (reports to Worker X)
  - Subordinate Worker 1 (Position A)
  - Subordinate Worker 2 (Position A)
- Position B (reports to Worker Y)
  - Subordinate Worker 3 (Position B)
  - Subordinate Worker 4 (Position B)

Requirement:

When Subordinate Worker 3 applies for leave, the workflow should route the approval task to Worker Y (instead of Worker X).
Assume that Position A is the primary position for Worker 123. workflow should ignore the primary position.
How to ensure that the workflow logic considers the dual-position scenario and dynamically routes approvals based on the reporting relationships. currently it looks for primary position only.

Hi,

The worker should have only one active position, but you can assign to him other positions on the relationship tab on the position form and then you can configure your workflow using Configurable hierarchy. You can check the below link:
