Creating System Views based on email From Name

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

Hi all,

I'm working on creating a custom view to parse some of our email sends for reporting purposes. I've successfully created a query that limits the view to emails sent within a certain date range, over a certain number of deliveries, and based on a specific template name. However, it would be helpful if I could also limit it to sends that originated from a specific From Name (e.g. "Blank Corporation" Team).

However, adding a row based on From Name (and From Email) returns no results by itself, and has no effect on results when added to my existing query. Can anyone give me a hint as to why this field isn't working like the others?

I'm fairly green here so I'm not sure which version of the product we're using--according to the About page, we're using Dynamics 365 - 2020 release wave 1 enabled. It's a custom installation.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi

As you can see from the screenshot below, the From is also a Party List type.

To filter by the sender, you will have to add your criteria to related activity party as shown below

    Hello JMF44,

I hope you are well and safe.

Email messages are store on ActivityPointerBase and all attendees belong to ActivityPartyBase.

Basically, you need to use the related entity "Activities Party (Activity)", select:

    Participation Type Equals Sender

    Party Equals Enter Value

So, this way you are able to filter specific parties of email message.

    Regards,

    Thanks Kokulan and Gustavo,

Here's a shot of the query; it's still not filtering out senders by From Name with this query, but perhaps the solution will be obvious with this visual.

    Well,

Seems you are using an additional relationship on filter (Activities (Regarding)).

Would say to use only Activity Parties (Activity) contains data and after filters by Participation Type + Party.

    Hi,

Can you pls check below screenshot and try same. Also I could not find Deliveries and EMail Template field in my trial instance so add that condition as well. I believe those are custom field created on Email entity.

If it does not work, Try removing one filter at a time and then you should be to identify which filter is causing the issue.
