There is no reference in microsoft documentation that we cannot use dot a string in partial url in crm portal. But still it does not allow me to include . in the partial URL. Can anyone explain what is the reason behind this. Since even when i try to save a partial URL with dot in it, it errors out saying "Partial URL of a child page cannot be'/'. Please enter a partial URL with letters, number and hyphen or underscores."
Remember that the partial URL represents the final URL for your page in the Portal
a "dot" is common in URL for setting the domain of your application or versioning (for services usually)
other than that is just not very common
I am not sure there is another reason why it is being restricted, but if it is part of your requirement I would suggest opening a ticket in MS
Hi Oliver, thank you for your reply. The client had a existing webpagewhich is .aspx webpage. They just wanted to retain the URL with .aspx whereas Portal does not allow that.
I see, the .aspx is just the extension of the page so it wouldn't really be necessary
but I guess your client might have this URL being referenced externally, and could be too hassle to update
you can also try using the Redirects to achieve your requirement: docs.microsoft.com/.../add-redirect-url
