setup to avoid physical quantity update before product receipt

Hi an Item X is Ordered 4 Nos. , item is registered at arrival and Quarantine order is generated and same has been Report as finished and Ended.

Item transaction status at this time is still Registered, but physical available is shown 4 even before product receipt done?

Can it be set up not to update the physical available but still Physical reserved until Product receipt is posted?

Please suggest.

Hello Yogesh,

I do not refer to physical negative inventory quantities.

Even if you do not allow physical negative inventory quantity in your inventory model groups it can happen that your inventory value report shows a negative value as you can sell the items - stock value reduction - before the product receipt - stock value increase - has been posted. I find this a quite unfortunate functionality from a "finance/Accounting" perspective.

As there could be unpredictable delay between registration and receipt it is an issue though negative inventory is not allowed!!

Hi Yogesh, To my knowledge you cannot prevent the physical update until the product receipt is posted. This is a weakness of AX as you can already sell the registered items resulting in a negative inventory Balance. The only thing that you can do is trying to minimize / eliminate the time between the registration and product receipt posting. Hope it helps, Ludwig
