"Missing" behavior of "followemail" field in regards to Insights integration

Hi all,

I'm wondering about the behavior of the following field in DyMa and need to know more about the logic required, which we are selling our clients(...):

followemail >>  OOB description of Microsoft: "Information about whether to allow following email activity like opens, attachment views and link clicks for emails sent to the contact." We are talking about a boolean with the following attributes: "Allow" & "Do not Allow"

Our clients want to be able to decide, whether E-Mail activities of clients and interests are stored in the Insights integration or not.

But, if the trigger is set on "Do not Allow" on several contacts (whether if new or existing customers & additionally a deleted browser cache) and we are using them in multiple, completely independt customer journeys, data are generated in the customer Insights on every single contact.

There exist a very similar field called:

"msgdpr_donottrack" >> OOB description of Microsoft: "Select whether contact allows tracking interaction data. If Do Not Allow is selected, Microsoft Dynamics 365 will not save interaction data for the contact." (same attributes)

, which is working flawless.

it would be great to get some help in regards to the stated field, so we can deliver the functionality.

Thanks in advance!

Sören

    Hi Nya,

Thank you very much for your quick response - much appreciated.

But could you please refer to the latest question above:

How can Dynamics Marketing remedy this essential use case? So, how can we prevent the storage of such personal data?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best regards,

    Sören

    Hi Sören,

There is no such field unfortunately.

But in response to your concerns about the GDPR aspect, it is recommended to refer to the following documentations:

Work with data protection and GDPR (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

Use GDPR features (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

    Hi Nya,

    Thanks for your quick response!

It is indeed annoying that this field has no funcionalities. It would be desirable to have a field analogous to "msgdpr_donottrack", which acts according to the same principle and offers the possibility to disable the (email) tracking data in the Insights integration.

    Does such a field exist?

After all, in Germany we have to be able to ensure that certain data, such as clicks and opening times, are not generated against the will of our and our customers.

How can Dynamics Marketing remedy this essential use case?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best regards,

    Sören

    Hi Sören,

Please refer to the following section:

Work with contact, account, and lead records (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

Follow email: This field is often present, but is not added by Dynamics 365 Marketing. It has no effect of the functionality of the Marketing app, including its ability to track email interactions. You can still use it in segmentation criteria, just like any other contact field. (This field is used by the email engagement feature of Dynamics 365 Sales. More information: Use email engagement to view message interactions.)

There are two different types of emails in Dynamics: Activity emails and Marketing emails.

The field is used to track the behaviors of the former type.
