Dynamics Custom Fields for Appointments and the Appointment Type Field (InstanceTypeCode)

Posted on by
Hi All

I am wondering if it is possible in synced appointment scenarios to prevent updates performed on custom fields from changing the appointment type of a recurring meeting from recurring instance to recurring exception.   I understand the behavior for fields like start/end date / subject line / or other fields synced to outlook and changings those creates a recurring exception which follows normal outlook behavior.  I also understand that you can control some of this from the recurring series level, but it would be ideal if possible from the individual instance level.

Our business processes depend on appointment activity very heavily, and the team sets a lot of unique individual attributes to meetings instances (various custom fields such as meeting types / outcomes).  By doing so they are changing the meeting's appointment type to recurring exceptions which sends a lot of notices out to the recipients of the meeting.

Any insight is appreciated.
