Deleting transactions after testing

Posted on by 100

Dear Partners,

I have completed the set up and I wish to test the various functionalities with transactions but I am wondering how one can delete these transactions afterwards. I have posted one into the bank account and I am unable to delete unless I pass a reversal. Any guidance will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks and on standby.

Reversal is the only option considering the db integrity.

After you have done every setup and the DB is ready to be live, create a new company by copying it and do the testing from there. Once everything fine, you can delete the testing company and use the live one. This is what I follow here.

If you worried about any mistakes in the reversal process, do it in the test company then do in the live.

Best option is make backup of the company before doing any transaction. Once testing is completed then you can restore the database again.

It is always recommended that for testing you should have different database and for production you should have another database.

    RE: Deleting transactions after testing

Generally, it is not recommended to delete transactions from the system. Sometimes consultants do this, but it requires detailed understanding of all the postings to all the tables in the system and has a huge risk of loosing the database integrity on transactional level.

If you want to get a clean company with the same setup for going live, it is recommended that you either reverse the test transactions you had already made, or setup a new company in the same database and transfer the settings you had made there - either manually or using RapidStart services.
