Hi All,

We have a new DEV environment in LCS similar to UAT version, we have restored database from UAT, synchronized DB and built models, and connected to VSTS, but unable to see customized Models in DEV which exists in UAT.

Please advise us how we can get Customized models in  new DEV.

Regards,

Akbar

    Hi Akbarpasha,

Have you synchronized models from source control? In Source Control Explorer, right-click on Metadata and select Get Latest Version. Getting the latest version will synchronize you local packages folder with the latest code.

    Hi Akbarpasha,

When after the 'Get latest', you don't see the models directly, you can refresh the models from the Dynamics extension menu in Visual Studio or restart Visual Studio.

    Hi Akbarpasha,

if you described all the steps that you actually did, seems that you haven't connected your dev system to ADO (Azure DevOps), and you haven't "get latest" to download the source code from ADO.

Your source code is (hopefully!) maintained in ADO so that's where you get it from. The database from UAT contains only data, not code.

    Hi Nikolaos/Andre/Judy,

We have just connected to VSTS from VS, but in somewhere the mapping is not there to local folders.

As I am not much familiar with configuring the VSTS setups, in the below screen shot for the local folder - which folder we have to provide there , will it be "K:\AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory" or something else.

Please advise how can we get customized models into VS.

    Hi,

I can warmly recommend checking this blog for all dev / ALM related topics: https://new.ariste.info/en/msdyn365-azure-devops-alm

Here's a chapter that tells you about the workspace mapping: new.ariste.info/.../

    Hi Akbar,

You need to get the latest code to your K drive path, K:\AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory. Here you will have all the models including your customized model if you get latest from DevOps.

For DevOps, you can select the workspaces.

    pastedimage1641423628159v1.png

Click Edit on the workspace or add if you don't have any yet. Then map your dev branch Metadata to K:\AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory and the project to your project path.

    pastedimage1641423806060v2.png

After that, right click on the branch and get latest version. It will pull the code from DevOps to your VM.

    pastedimage1641423912229v3.png

Then you can do model refresh after get latest (optional)

Right click AOT, click model view, you should able to see your model now or check the K:\AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory folder, you should see your model folder there.

If you still unable to see your model, please check the descriptor, should be some problem with the descriptor.

    Hi Akbarpasha

As your mentioned details are not clear to me, so kindly confirm, before restoring the database, have you synced your custom model using VSTS or deployed the last deployable custom package on your DEV box?
