NAV 2016 Temporary file location used by "Print and Send" - can it be changed?

Hi all,

We have several NAV databases, so we have set up a number of shortcuts that use the "-settings" parameter to point to a different ".config" file.  These config files are stored in a directory on a server where the users do NOT have write/delete permissions - only read.

When using the "Print and Send" to Excel feature, users are getting the following error:

Configuration file error:

An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path 'J:\CApp\RTC\2xokkuwh.tmp' is denied. (J:\CApp\RTC\Nav2016Test.config)

So, from this message, I have inferred that NAV uses the directory where the .config file is for a temporary file in generating Excel (or Word) output.

If I change the -settings command to point to a directory where the user has full permissions (or remove the -settings command completely so it defaults to the standard location), the Print to Excel works fine.

SO, my questions are:

1. Can the location that NAV uses for these temporary files be changed to some directory OTHER than the location of the .config file, and

2. If so, how?

Thanks

Ron Saritzky

I was in impression that NAV creates temp files defined under Tools-->Options-->TempFilePath

    Am I wrong?

It appears (only from observation) that the temp file used by the "Print and Send" feature is not controlled by the TempFilePath setting.  However, if you create a temp file using TEMPFILEPATH or one of the file management functions, it does use the TempFilePath directory.

    This surprised me also...
