Hi all,

Ever set AX report for Subscription. I tried to subscribe on of AX report (let say CustListReport), but when it run, there is status error :

An error occurred while executing OnInit: The Microsoft Dynamics AX Reporting Data Extension does not support SQL Server Reporting Services Subscriptions.

Anybody know what is that all about ? I'm googling but cannot found any useful resources.

Thanks in advance,

Axl

Dynamics AX-SSRS is different than SSRS

in dynamics ax , reports are dependents upon X++ Classes, which are used as DataProvider and UI Builder at runtime. These fact make Subscriptions and many other functionalities unviable AX flavored SSRS

As an alternative you can setup report as batch job inside dynamics AX and that can possibly fulfill your need either by saving it as pdf or for sending it as email or a direct print,

    Hi Sohaib,

Thanks for reply. So this means, if I have SSRS report but purely only get data from AX but not using its X++ classes. It can be done, right?

    Thanks again,

I don't think so,  Reporting Services for AX would not allow you to do so, unless you are really on a non-ax ssrs

why you cannot consider to subscribe ax reports as batch jobs within ax?

There are few extensions added to pull data to SSRS report from AX. "AXQUERY"

    "AXDATAMETHOD"

    "AXREPORTDATAPROVIDER"

    "AXADOMD"

"AXENUMDATAPROVIDER" . If any of these are used then SSRS subscriptions are not supported. The End result you look for in subscription is periodic execution and mailing requirements. This can be achieved with ax report itself using batch tab as all reports are by default batch enabled as they are designed on SysOperationFramework.

    Hi Sohaib,

Because really it is only use AX data. What I intend is to create SSAS report which even the cube itself created outside AX.

Theoretically, it will connect to different DB (SSAS DB) which the data source it self simply pull the raw data of AX. We can say my SSRS report don't even know AX existed (but the truth is the error keep saying " Microsoft Dynamics AX Reporting Data Extension not supported" though......)

    Thanks,

    Hi Venkatesh,

For those you are listed, I think I didn't use it. The report connect to SSAS DB in which the Cube is not the built-in Cube from AX.

    Thanks,

Did you make any Data sources based on Ax  or none at all.

If so ideally it should work. Can you retry the scenario using BIDS project template rather than using Dynamics Ax template?
