Service Orders - negative quantity not allowed

Can anyone advise why Service Orders do not permit negative quantities to be entered?

I wish to enter a negative quantity in order to reverse an incorrect hours posting.

    Hi Ian,

have a look into Item model group settings in order allow to pick negative inventory:

Go to Stock Management - Setup - Stock - Item model groups

P.s. you want to have the right permission to view the menu.

    Thanks and Regards

    F.

    Hi,

There is return order for managing the returns.

But in your situation, you simply needs to cancel or correct the packing slip and go back to the previous step.

As long as it's not invoiced you can make corrections.

Go to pick and pack > packing slip journal > correct / cancel

    Hello Ian_J,

Can you provide some more details?

You mentioned service orders and hour posting. Yet, further below I see comments on item transactions.

Can you specify what kind of transaction you posted, in which module and what you try to achieve?

It would be great if you could attach some supporting screenprints.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    hi all

    Thanks for your replies.

My issue is with HOUR postings in particular.

I don't seem to be able to upload screenshots but the issue is fairly simple to describe:

A service order has a line of transaction type Hour which is posted. If the line is incorrect (say booked to the wrong service order) then it needs to be reversed.

Trying to add a reversing line with all the same values but a negative quantity results in an error message "Negative values are not allowed"

    Sorry for my first answer.

Does your service stage of your service order allow any actions like : delete , cancel or modify ?

(Service management > Setup > Service orders > Service stages)

If so, you should be able to cancel the line or the whole service order.

    Hi Yohann,

    Thanks for your reply.

The Service Order allows the line to be 'removed', which does disassociate the line from the service order.

However, this is not really a good solution as the posted hour transaction still exists, the service order number is being used as a dimension and this dimension remains populated on the hour transaction posting.

The requirement is to be able to reverse the line on the service order and the hour transactions which have been posted.

The Quantity field is set as an absolute value, preventing negative values from being entered.

As it is perfectly possible to enter Hour transactions with a negative quantity, is there any reason that this is prevented on Service Order Hour transactions?

    Regards, Ian
