RE: Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 - Locks Up/Crashes When Posting Payroll / Inventory
Hey Brian,
All steps are provided as is. Steps should be tested in a test company with a copy of live.
Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this.
The first error is likely because you have stuck records in the your Payroll Work Tables. The following KB is what we recommend for this error.
Errors when selecting a batch - Dynamics GP | Microsoft Learn
Now the second error is going to be a little more difficult. This is referring to your Reports and the error does not give enough info to determine what might the problem. My assumption is when you attempt to recover, it continues the posting process and when a report attempts to generate, this is what is causing the error.
Can you submit a screenshot of the More Info if you click the button. This might give us some further insight.
In addition, have you tried to recover the batches using the sa user? The sa user should have access to everything so would be a good test.
Another thing that i would recommend since you just applied a patch is to recreate and synchronize your forms and reports. These can cause problems after an upgrade and might be part of your issue. This is machine specific.
- Export any customizations that you have.
- Dynamics GP | Tools | Customize | Customization Maintenance
- Select all in this window.
- Click Export.
- Choose a name and location.
- Click Save.
- Close the window.
- Rename the Reports and forms.dic to Reports.dic.old and forms.dic.old.
- This is normally located in the GP Code folder. If it is shared, you will need to determine where it is held at.
- Now synchronize the Forms and Reports.
- Open the Dex.ini.
- This is located in the Data folder in the GP Code Folder
- Change the SYNCHRONIZATION line from FALSE to TRUE and save the changes and close the window.
- Start Great Plains Utilities. To do this, follow the appropriate step:
- In Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 and higher versions, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Dynamics, point to GP 10.0 (or appropriate version), and then click Utilities
- In Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Dynamics, point to GP 9.0, and then click Utilities.
- In Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains 8.0, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Business Solutions, point to Great Plains, and then click Great Plains Utilities.
- In the Additional Tasks window, click Synchronize forms and reports dictionaries, and then click Process.
- Locate the Dynamics.set file on the client computer, and then click Next.
- Import your Modified Reports into a new Reports.dic.
- This gets created when you import.
- Dynamics GP | Tools | Customize | Customization Maintenance
- Click Import.
- Point to the package file from step 1.
- Determine if you still have the issues.
If the above does not help, please send a screenshot of the 2nd error more info and hopefully it will give us some insight.
You can also look at creating a support case with Microsoft as well for one of the specific errors as well.
I hope this helps!
Thank you!
